Giant Bunny

Meet Giant Chocolate Easter BunnyHe came all nice and wrapped in a giant bunny box.
Jocelyn and Reagan were very proud to have such a large piece of candy in their possession... One for each of them.
1 Giant Bunny + 1 Giant Bunny = 2 Giant Bunnies!
(Thank you Grandma Debbie) ;)
Reagan really didn't understand (at first) that she was going to be able to eat this giant bunny......and when I told her to eat it, this is what she did:Then Jocelyn showed her how it was done......and she caught on rather quicklyWhen all was said and done (well, when mommy thought they had had enough giant bunny for one day) this is what remained for Jocelyn:
...and this for Reagan:
and this is how Reagan looked when Giant Bunny was no longer on her highchair tray:
Goodbye for now, Giant Bunny.
I can only imagine how long you will be with us!

Easter 2012

We had a very busy, but very nice Easter this year! On Friday, we went to Grandma's house to dye Easter eggs.Jocelyn was very into it this year, and enthusiastically dyed all 5 dozen hard boiled eggs that grandma had cooked. Yes, you read that right...5 dozen! :-)
Grandma likes hard boiled eggs a lot! ;)

Reagan even participated in the fun this year, but after her first egg, she was not really into dyeing the 59 eggs remaining.

On Saturday we drove to Altoona to visit with my Grandpap and Grandma and meet up with my Mom & Dad. It was the first time either of my grandparents met Reagan, which is pretty sad seeing as how Altoona is only a 2 hour drive from Pittsburgh. Tisk, tisk on me!

It was a beautiful, sunny day, so we spent our time outside with Grandpap in his back yard. We played some playdough, drew with some sidewalk chalk, blew some bubbles and had a picnic for lunch.

Reagan has some pretty severe stranger anxiety right now, so she wouldn't let Great Grandpap hold her. This is the best we could get for a picture of them together.

We drove back home Saturday afternoon, and Meme and Papa came home with us for Easter Day!

On Easter morning, the girls woke up and found their Easter baskets, hidden by the Easter bunny the night before.

Then we had a nice little breakfast before we headed off to church.
Hard boiled eggs, kielbasa, and glazed doughnut muffins. Yummy!

After church, Jocelyn realized that all of our plastic Easter eggs were missing and she and Reagan went out to the backyard to see if the Easter Bunny hid them.

He did!!
Jocelyn kept saying that she "just couldn't believe it"!
Then my mom took some really great pictures of all of us!

Afterwards, we had breakfast again. This time we had Spinach and Cheese Strata, home fries, and more glazed doughnut muffins!
I didn't take any pictures...I was too busy cooking!

Then, after saying goodbye to my Mom and Dad, and after the girls took a much needed nap, we headed to the Embassy Suites in Coraopolis for a private Easter dinner buffet with Todd's side of the family. The food was delicious, the hotel was beautiful and it was perfect that we had our own little private cabana to eat in--the girls were free to run around as they pleased!

The Easter bunny even showed up to give the girls a little gift and take some pictures. She must have been pretty tired after hopping around all night delivering Easter baskets.
I can't believe she got up from her nap just for us!
Jocelyn was excited to see the bunny, and she took the opportunity to thank her for her Easter basket~what a sweet little girl!!

This was as close as Reagan was going to get to the bunny. I guess Aunt Di convinced her she would be safe as long as she held her! This is the best picture we got of Reagan and the bunny this year--she cried when she was this close to the bunny any other time!
It was a truly wonderful Easter!
Jocelyn said it was her best Easter yet, and also didn't forget to make sure to remind us that because it was Easter "Jesus opened the gates to Heaven"!

The Eye

If Reagan doesn't like something that she is eating, or even if she thinks she isn't going to like something, she will get my attention (i.e. say Mommy) and then squint one of her eyes shut, like you see in the pictures.

It all started with a clementine. She loves clementines, however, the first bite would always cause her to inadvertently make the squinty-eye face and then we would laugh and laugh, so she started making the face purposefully. I'm pretty sure she continues to do it because she still gets a laugh every time she does it--it's just so funny!

Holiday Treats

We love making fun holiday treats!
This one was yummy and I love the way it turned out...very cute for the girls' Easter Party at PALS!

Bunny Bait

2 bags popcorn, popped (I used this kind, but you can also use Tender White)
12oz. white chocolate candy coating
1 bag Easter M&Ms
pretzel sticks, broken into small pieces
colorful sprinkles

Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl with the broken up pretzels. Heat the candy coating in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each time, until melted and smooth.

Drizzle 1/2 the candy coating over the popcorn mixture and stir to coat. Mix in M&Ms and other 1/2 of the candy coating, and stir to coat once again.

Spread out on a large piece of wax paper, top with a few sprinkles (if desired) and let cool. Break into pieces and serve in a large bowl or individual treat bags.

EDIT: Learned this the hard way...if you make this, make sure you remove all the unpopped popcorn kernels before you mix everything together!!

I got the idea from here!
I got the tag here!

Growing so fast...getting so smart!

An Easter Egg Hunt

Today we went to my and Todd's alma mater for an alumni Easter egg hunt! The girls were really excited & ready to find some eggs!

They each found 10 (the limit).
I have to hand it to Duquesne! This egg hunt is one of the best we have participated in. The girls hunted for eggs, then we had a really nice lunch in Mellon Hall, followed by crafts and Easter activities. Jocelyn took a picture with the Easter Bunny, but Reagan wanted nothing to do with him!

It was a really fun afternoon!

Two beautiful little girls in dresses! It doesn't get any better than that!
