Our Little Social Butterfly

Today Jocelyn and I went to the infant program, Bouncing Babies and Books, at our local library. There were no books involved, only singing, dancing, clapping and so forth. We went a few months ago, but didn't go back because I felt that it was geared more toward older infants.

I wondered if she would be ready to try it again, and assumed she would like it. Boy oh boy, was I right. She is quite the social butterfly. Jocelyn's favorite activity these days is dancing. I listen to the Wiggles Yummy, Yummy CD about 12 times a day. She loves music and dancing.

So we get to the program room at the library, I take Jocelyn's coat off, and she immediately wants nothing to do with me anymore. She walks around looking at all the other kids (she also LOVES kids), and when the teacher arrives and starts singing, she stood right in front of her (in the front of everyone) and danced. The song would end, she would walk around, another song would begin and she would take her place in front of everyone and start dancing once again. I got the impression that this was ok, the other kids weren't constantly glued to their parents either, so I just let Jocelyn go and do what she wanted to do. She had SO much fun.

I think we will be attending every Tuesday as long as we are free.

When it was time to go Jocelyn did NOT want to put her coat on and leave. I bet she would have lasted for a 3 or 4 hour program rather than the 45 minutes it was. I'm not quite sure Jocelyn is really my child anymore...or Todd's either for that matter. We are both quite shy with people outside "our group". Maybe that will come for Jocelyn, or maybe she is destined for stardom. LOL!

She Climbs

Onto the couch, onto the coffee table...

Now what do I do?? LOL! She thinks it's hilarious, it's all she wants to do, and I'm afraid she's going to fall and break her neck. She thinks it's funny when I tell her to sit, and when she doesn't listen and I take her off of the object she is standing on, she just climbs right back up laughing the whole time. Thank goodness we have carpet, so at least if she does fall, there is a bit of cushion.

I'm just waiting for the day that she figures out how to get up to the dining room table...I'm sure it won't be long.

More Dancing...She's ALWAYS dancing!

Jocelyn's Summertime Wishlist

I've got my eye on some cool outdoor toys that I think Jocelyn would enjoy. I found both on Craigslist, but unfortunately I found them a little too late and someone else had already shown interest. Our backyard will be so much more fun for Jocelyn with these in them! The Little Tikes Swingalong Castle
The Little Tikes Sand & Sea Play Table
Does anybody know of anything better or have one that they no longer use and want to sell?

The 1st Signs of Spring!

Jocelyn and I spent much of the past two days outside enjoying the warmer temperatures and the sunshine! Jocelyn really enjoys playing outside! Here are some pictures of my sunshine.
Giving me her confused look. "You take pictures here too?"

Laughing because I fell over. Wow, our grass looks horrible!

A Glimmer of Hope

It has gotten to the point that everyone (and I really mean EVERYONE) who sees Jocelyn asks the infamous question: "Where's your hair?" or makes a statement like, "My girlfriend's daughter didn't have any hair for a long time either." or "It always takes the girls the longest to get hair."

I knew the day when I would hear these statements was coming. I knew it before she was born. I didn't have hair for a long time, and when I started getting it, it wasn't the most flattering hair style you had ever seen. Jocelyn obviously takes after me in the hair department.
Me:
Mullet Central!
I think the question is asked so often because Jocelyn is walking and getting bigger, and she is starting to look "weird" being bald. 'Weird' isn't the right word. I don't think she looks weird. I think she is just as cute as she ever was. It's just that to everyone else, it seems that her hair (or lack of, I should say) is the first thing that everyone notices.
I know it will come. I obviously have a full head of hair now. It's pretty thick too. I will one day be able to buy cute little hair thingies and put Jocelyn's hair in pigtails and ponytails. Until then, this will have to do:

See, there is a little glimmer of hope that hair is in Jocelyn's future. Bring on the mullet!

Happy Birthday!

Today is my Aunt Beth's Birthday!
Happy Birthday Aunt Beth!!
Hope you are having a good one!
On March 14th:
  • 1794 - Eli Whitney is granted a patent for the cotton gin.

Geeze, not much has happened on March 14...but you were born, and that's all the matters.
