Hi Great Grandma Ella!!!

We just heard that Great Grandma Ella is online!! We are so happy you will be able to log on and keep up-to-date on the TarBar!! Here's the most recent picture for you. Jocelyn was enjoying her lunch yesterday. Oatmeal. When I say she was enjoying it, I don't mean she was enjoying the eating part of it...she was mostly enjoying the rubbing-it-all-over-her-face part!

Just Imagine...

Imagine yourself deciding to test your body, your ability, your mind. Imagine trying to swim 2.4 miles, then bike 112 miles, and then after making it through both of those, running 26.2 miles. Yes people, this is ONE event taking place in ONE day. On top of that, imagine doing it in the pouring rain. Can you imagine participating in this kind of event? Do you think you would be able to do it? There are only a select few who can call themselves an Ironman, and my father-in-law is one of them! Will finished the Ironman in Lake Placid, NY on Sunday in 14 hours, 53 minutes, and 20 seconds. WOW! What an amazing feat for him(and for anybody who finishes), and how cool it was to be able to be there to witness it! We are SO proud of you Will...not too many kids can say that their father, father-in-law, grampee is an Ironman, but we can!

Congratulations!!

I was pretty lazy and didn't take any pictures (but only because there were others taking pictures and I was hoping they would share), so the following pictures (and the one of the 'Go Grampee' sign above) were taken by Carolyn's sister-in-law Kim. I asked permission to share the pictures, but I'm too impatient to wait for a reply...hoping it's OK...

Ironman hopefuls before the start of the swim (before the rain officially started)

This is Will at the END of the 112 mile bike segment...can you believe he is smiling?

And let the running begin! Here you can see Will beginning his 26.2 mile run. He was STILL smiling!

Summer Fun

It was hot here today, so we decided to take Jocelyn to the pool for her first public pool experience. It was her first experience with sunscreen too. We waited until about 3:30 to go so the sun wasn't at it's peak. Jocelyn didn't like the sunscreen application process much, but dealt with it.

When we got to the pool she liked sitting on the towel.
Then we made the move to the baby pool. She didn't like the cold water at first, but she got used to it quickly.

A pose with Daddy too...

It was pretty fun for us all...oh, and Daddy got the nachos he has STILL been craving!

So, What did you think of the pool Jocelyn?Looks like a fake smile to me...

Woman's Revenge

I thought this was funny...

"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase.

As she fumbled for her wallet, I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse."

So do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked.

"No," she replied, "but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally."

Can't Forget Great Grandpap

I forgot to mention that Jocelyn got to see the house her Mammie grew up in while we were in Altoona...and got to see her Great Grandpap for the second time. She didn't even cry when he held her, even though she has started to get into that weird stage where people she doesn't see everyday make her cry.
We also met Uncle Steve for the first time and saw Great Grandma again, but we forgot to take pictures...oops!

Cousins

Three Amigos?
The picture above is of me (in the middle) and my cousins (Morgan on the left and Dena on the right). I have other cousins, but Morgan and Dena are the only ones my age. The picture above was taken on a family vacation years and years ago. I can't tell you what year (Aunt Beth says around 1988). We barely see each other anymore because we all live in different places, but little did we know that one day we would all end up being pregnant at the same time. Morgan had her son Zachary in August of last year, Dena had her son Trenton in October, and then we all know I had Jocelyn in January of this year.
Here's a picture of me and Dena at her baby shower. Dena a little more pregnant than me!

I think it's really cool that we all had kids around the same time. It's too bad we aren't closer so our kids could be friends (even though poor Jocelyn would be the only girl)!

This past weekend, Jocelyn, Todd, Mammie, Pappy and I took a trip to Altoona to see some family. We finally got to meet Aunt Laurie, Uncle Danny and Trenton!
Here's a picture of me holding Trenton.
Jocelyn and Trenton. Those cheeks are hard to keep your hands off of!
What are they talking about?
Checking each other out!
Parallel play
I hope that one day Jocelyn and Zachary can meet too! It would be even cooler if the three of them could all be together at the same time!

6 Months Old!

I can't believe it has already been 6 months since Jocelyn was born. In 6 months Jocelyn has become the center of our lives, and is the greatest blessing we could ever ask for. Before she was born we loved her, and since then our love continues to grow every day. I never thought it was possible to love another person so much and have that love grow more and more each and every day.

In the past 6 months Jocelyn has gone from a newborn who couldn't hold her head up and spent all her time sleeping to an active baby girl who can now sit up on her own, roll over, play with toys, and talk in her own baby language. She loves to sit in mommy or daddy's lap and read a book, loves her bath time, loves to be out and about rather than sit in the house. She smiles when we come into her room in the morning, is already starting to give kisses and hugs, and against mommy's wishes is very good at hanging on to mommy's hair. She laughs when daddy blows on her tummy and cries when mommy gets her dressed--she would much rather be naked! She is such a good girl, such a precious joy to have in our life, and I am so grateful to be able to call myself her mommy.
We love you Jocelyn Paige!!!!

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July!! We've already had a lot of fun today. Mammie and Pappy are here and we went to the Brentwood parade. Jocelyn's first parade--and I have to say I really think she enjoyed it! She even skipped her morning nap without protest! Here are some pictures...

On our way

The parade

A new family photo: Very patriotic

Our cutie

Thanks to Dara, Jocelyn had a cute 4th of July outfit to wear!

Later we will be heading to Lori's for a family picnic and then to Crafton Celebrates for fireworks. Wondering if Jocelyn will stay awake long enough for those and if she will even like them.

Quiet

Hi. All is well here, just not too much going on. Jocelyn and I have mostly been hanging out at home. We are preparing for a visit from Mammie and Pappy for the 4th of July and are very excited to see them! Jocelyn is most definitely still teething. I hope those top ones pop through soon so she can stop being so uncomfortable. I swear she's going to rip her ears off--she pulls on them so hard while nursing. I wish I could relieve the pressure and pain for her, but the most I can do is keep her on an IV of Tylenol and let her chew on things. I think the teeth are causing Jocelyn to wake up more frequently at night too. She used to do a nice 6-7 hour stretch, but I haven't had a good night's sleep in a while now...darn those teeth!
