Jocelyn's First Christmas

We had an absolutely wonderful Christmas this year! We had so much fun and Jocelyn just loved being busy all the time and spending time with lots of people. She was definitely spoiled. She received lots of gifts from lots of people. I packed up most of her old toys and she now has enough things to rotate toys, always keeping something "new". Jocelyn has already gotten much better at walking. On Christmas Eve night, with lots of cheering and clapping causing her to get more confidence, Jocelyn took 8-10 solo steps. And she did it more than once. I thought she would be walking all over our house by Christmas morning! Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day:

Jocelyn and Mommy spent a lot of Christmas Eve listening to Christmas carols and dancing!

Mommy likes capturing Jocelyn's silly faces

Everyone has to have a picture of their baby with a Christmas bow on their head, don't they?

Baby Steps

Jocelyn took her first solo steps today! They were out of the blue, and it was only 2 steps, but I was so excited!! We shall see if it continues...

Santa Baby

All of the sudden Jocelyn loves wearing her Santa hat!

I just LOVE the face below...it looks like she's up to something a little Grinchy!

Santa Came Early!

Look what we received in the mail yesterday! Thanks so much Will and Carolyn...my blog would be pretty boring without pictures, and Jocelyn would have had a big gap in the photo documentary of her life!

11 Months Old!

Already? I can't believe it...and I just know the next month until she is 1 will be the fastest of all because we have the holidays in between!

Things are still the same as they were last month. She's crawling around everywhere, pulling up on everything. She's cruising much more and sometimes she does it along the couch without holding on. She needs to work up a little more courage to take some steps on her own. She stands all by herself, but when it gets to the point where she looks like she's about to take a step she just plops down on her butt and smiles. This always ends with her version of saying "boom" (which is what I say when this happens). Her version sounds a bit more like "bum". Todd and I both swear she tries to say Elmo also, but it sounds more like "Uh-ma".
She's a handful, that's for sure...finding every piece of what-not laying on the floor and handing it to me or Todd when we catch her about to put it in her mouth, or the most recent event was breaking our camera. I was taking pictures for this post (so these are the last pictures you may see for a while) when she grabbed at the camera and broke the zoom lens.
She really loves books right now. She will hand a book to one of us (well, it's more like pushing it into our face) until we take it and read it to her. She has a few that are favorites that I feel like I must read 100 times a day!
Jocelyn is definitely starting to test us...touching things that she shouldn't and looking back at us before she does. She has a mind of her own and gets very upset when she is not allowed to do something (chew her book corners) or needs to wait for something (like lunch while Mommy is getting it ready). A handful, yes, but what almost-one-year-old isn't? Jocelyn is a wonderful, beautiful, loving little girl that I wouldn't trade for the world! Did I mention she now seeks out kisses from her mom and dad? She will come right at us with her open mouth, wanting a kiss and smiling so big once she gets one!

We love you sweetie! Happy 11 months!

Seeing Santa

Todd and I were so excited to take Jocelyn to see Santa for the first time. She of course has no idea who Santa is or what Santa's job is, but nevertheless, we still couldn't wait to get that picture of Jocelyn sitting on Santa's knee for the first time (and maybe last time if she is anything like I was when I was little). We planned on taking her Wednesday evening, but the stomach bug pushed the visit back a day.

We picked Daddy up from work last night, went to the mall and had dinner, and waited in a very short line to see Santa (we didn't even want to imagine what the line would be like this weekend had we waited until then to go). Jocelyn didn't quite know what was going on, therefore we didn't get a smile from her. It may have been because Santa was nervous that Jocelyn would start crying if she looked at him. She tried several times to look back at him and he would duck away! Finally she caught a glimpse and Santa saw that she wasn't frightened by him (unlike the pair of twins who were in line in front of us), so they enjoyed looking at each other for a little bit. It was fun and hopefully not the last time Jocelyn enjoys sitting on Santa's lap. We will see what happens next year!

Jocelyn's Christmas Portraits

I'm not including the one we used for the Christmas cards because I don't want to spoil that one...

Bug

My baby has come down with her first illness. She has led a perfectly healthy 10 months and three weeks. It came to a screeching halt last night at about 2am when I woke up to the sound of her throwing up in her crib. The poor thing. She caught the stomach bug. I had it too on Monday. She seems to be a bit better this morning. I hope it stays that way. It's so hard with a baby...she can't run to the bathroom to throw up, I don't know when or if she is ready for solids again. Hopefully her virus is short-lived like mine-12 hours. Until then she's getting LOTS of cuddles!
