Jennifer & Le'Var's Wedding

Todd and I left the girls with my parents in Pittsburgh and traveled to Charlotte this past weekend for my BFF's wedding!  Jennifer and Le'Var tied the not on July 6!  I was so excited to be there to celebrate with her.  It had been a LONG time since we last saw each other.  It was fun for Todd and I to get away for a weekend alone as well!
Congratulations Jennifer and Le'Var!

Life's a Splash!

The girls love playing with their best friend Andrea!  While Todd and I were in NC for Jennifer's wedding, they played in the sprinkler with Andrea and her Mom sent me these photos and video.  Loving them all!

4th of July Festivities

We had a really fun 4th of July this year!  It all started on July 3rd, with the Brentwood Street Fair.  It was our first year making it up to the fair, and our first time witnessing area firefighters participating in the Battle of the Barrel.  Fire companies from around Pittsburgh compete in this 'battle' where they spray a suspended barrel with water from their fire hoses.
On the 4th, we woke up and got ready for the Brentwood 4th of July Parade.  We have gone every year since Jocelyn has been born, and it really is a great parade!  This year we watched the parade from a friend's house who lives right along the parade route.  This was nice because the girls had a place/people to play with when they got tired of watching the parade, and there was a pot luck lunch afterwards!  It was a fun morning!

Governor Corbett was even there.

Meme and Papa were there too!
After the parade, we went home and cooled off a little bit before heading to Jimmy and Colleen's house for a cookout.  It was a fun evening, with plenty of Badminton.  Todd and I won the tournament!  :)

When it started to get dark we left Jimmy and Colleen's to try to make it back to Brentwood for fireworks.  Unfortunately, Brentwood started their fireworks almost 30 minutes earlier than scheduled and we missed them.  It was a pretty bug bummer for all of us.  Luckily, we had already went to a fireworks display in Crafton the previous weekend, and even more luckily, we had some left over fireworks from last year and Todd put on his own little fireworks display.  At least it was something!

It turned out to be a great 4th of July full of family fun!

TCBY in Our Neighborhood!

I grew up going to TCBY for frozen yogurt as a kid.  I remember loving all the choices for the toppings the most.  Even though there were so many to chose from, I'm pretty sure I always ended up with twist yogurt (there was chocolate, vanilla and twist to choose from) in a cup with M&M's on top.  Things have changed since then.  This new TCBY now has many more flavors to chose from and even more toppings.  You also serve yourself and price is based on weight.  .49c ounce doesn't seem bad, but when you put some of every topping on, it can really add up!  I have to admit that the quality of the yogurt is not as I remember it.  It used to be very thick, solid, and creamy, and it's not so much of those things anymore, but it is still pretty good!  It's also fun to mix and match as many topping and yogurt flavors as you want!

We went to the grand opening yesterday.  Here's what the interior looks like. Very nice!  It's also open-air, which was nice.  We were able to sit inside and still feel like we were enjoying the nice weather outside.

There was a balloon artist and face painter on site for the celebration!  The girls enjoyed having their faces painted and their balloons!  They also got caricatures drawn that turned out really cute!

Waiting to make their yogurt creations.
Yummy for Jocelyn.  Mommy thought it looked kind of yucky, though.  Kids!
Reagan's creation--she's is a chocolate lover!
Todd says, "I can't believe I am about to eat this!"
It was a really fun little outing to a yummy frozen yogurt place that's close enough to walk to!

Wrap Up of the T-ball Season

Jocelyn had her last T-ball game on June 23rd.  It was a great season and I really enjoyed going to each and every one of her games!  Jocelyn was a GREAT little T-ball player.  I really hope she wants to play again next spring, although she says she doesn't want to.  At least she tries everything once, but I hope she changes her mind next year!
Receiving her trophy from Coach Kelly
She loves having trophies!
After the game the team got Sno-Kones and cookies!  What a treat!

A Little BIG Pool

I think it was March when we bought this pool at Sam's Club.  I remember walking out of the store in our coats and thinking we were silly to be purchasing a pool when it was still so cold outside.  We didn't want to miss out, though, because sometimes things go fast at Sam's.  This seemed like a good buy--a good price for a semi-large pool.  We finally set it up, and the girls had a lot of fun in it!
Look at Reagan's face!
It's big enough for friends too!

Father's Day Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend full of fun for Father's Day this year!  On Saturday, my Mom and Dad arrived to spend the weekend with us.  Our first event was Jocelyn's T-ball game.

After the game we went home and started the preparations for a homemade BBQ.  We had ribs (per Daddy's request), baked red potatoes, and pea salad.  I also made a special 3-layer Buckeye cake for dessert.  It was a really delicious meal and we picked a beautiful day to have it.  After we ate, we prepared for a bonfire.  It was definitely a classic BBQ and bonfire kind of day!  We had great weather!

On Father's Day we went to PNC park for a Pirate game.  We parked downtown and rode the T down to the North Shore.  All the kids and Dads received a free hat.  Unfortunately Father's Day didn't turn out to be as beautiful as the previous day and we had to sit out a 2-hour rain delay, in which time Reagan wondered off from our group and we spent 5 minutes panicking and looking for her.  Fortunately, and thank God, someone nice found her and we were reunited rather quickly.  5 minutes was an insanely long time to be missing your child though.  Hopefully nothing like that ever happens again!  Despite the "event" we still ended up enjoying the Pirates game.  They even won!

After the game, we enjoyed a classic Pittsburgh meal at Primanti Brothers and ate outside at Market Square.  It was a nice end to a fun Father's Day.

When we got home I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of me and MY dad, so we posed for a few snap shots!
Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy to my little girls, and to my Dad too--the best Daddy and Papa we could ever ask for!
