A Weekend of Festivals

The end of summer is near, and summer fun is coming to an end.  This weekend we went to two fairs.  The first was the St. Sylvester fair, which we have been attending every year for a few years now.  Jocelyn danced at the fair for her dance school.  It had been a long break from practicing her steps, but she did a great job!

Then we attended Whitehall Community Day, which was also a lot of fun.  The hit of this fair was that the girls brought their stuffed animals and got to have them checked out by characters from one of their favorite shows, Doc McStuffins!

College Reunion

Dara was in town and we took the opportunity to get together with the entire college clan!  I can't believe college was 10 years ago! It was a fun night and so nice to see each other!

Irrationality at 5-years-old

I feel kind of guilty that I took a picture of Jocelyn during a tantrum, but this little face is just too cute to forget.

One day at the park, Jocelyn became very upset that a little boy had joined in on a game of hide-and-seek she was playing with Reagan and another friend.  She came to me crying because she didn't want the little boy to play with them.  Why?  Because it would mean that she would have to wait longer for a turn to be the seeker.  There was no helping her this day!

Dewey Beach 2013

What an awesome vacation we had this year in Dewey Beach, DE!  The girls are at a great age to travel with.  This was definitely our best year since having the girls as a part of our family!  Both girls enjoyed the sand and water...Jocelyn more so the sand than water.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons went well for the girls this year.  It was Reagan's first year and she wasn't scared at all.  It was Jocelyn's second year, and she was still afraid of water on her face/eyes.  It took the entire 2 weeks for her to work up the courage to go under the water, but she was brave and finally did it!

Bah Bah Black Sheep

Reagan's favorite song right now is Bah Bah Black Sheep.  She's constantly singing it.  Jocelyn tried to sing it today as well.

The lyrics according to Jocelyn are:

Bah, bah, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir,
Three bags full;
One for the Mayor,
One for the maid,
And one for the little girl
Who lives in Maine.

The actual lyrics are as follows:

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir,
Three bags full;
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
And one for the little girl
Who lives down the lane.

Funny how kids hear/remember things.  Cute!

Jocelyn's Hair

Okay, so I posted about Jocelyn's hair cut a little over a month ago.  This was the picture I took of her as soon as we got home from the salon that day.  I was in shock at the shortness, and angry that instructions weren't followed.  I was upset that the hair I had waited for so long to come in on my baby Jocelyn's head was chopped off and gone.  She wanted it chin length, yes.  I thought it would be cute, but this was SO short.

Well, it took me about a week to get used to it, and since then I have to admit that I actually like it.  It's great for summer.  It's a cute cut, and Jocelyn has nice hair and a very pretty face for this style of hair.  She has received SO many compliments--compliments from complete strangers who had never even seen Jocelyn before having her hair cut this way.  They always say how much they love her haircut and how cute it is.  So...maybe this is the right style for her.  I can finally admit--it does look good on her.  She still asks me if it is chin length yet, so I'm not sure if she will want to keep it this length, but we shall see.  For now, I'm enjoying it, and Jocelyn seems to be enjoying it too.

Just look how pretty this little girl is!  I don't think it would matter what kind of hair she had!

Vacation Bible School

The girls are participating in their first Vacation Bible School this week at Good Shepherd Church!
This is also Reagan's first time being left somewhere without me.  She's having fun...and I think it's good practice for when she starts Preschool in the fall.  It's also nice that she gets to have her big sister there to help her!  ;-)

Turning into a Girly-girl?

It may be too soon to tell, but Reagan may be diversifying her wardrobe with some dresses and skirts!  This is what she chose to wear to vacation bible school today.
