Jocelyn drew a picture from one of her books today at rest time. I think she did such a great job on this crocodile!

Little Miss Independent
Reagan is a typical "I do it MYSELF" 2-year-old. She wants to do almost everything herself, even when it drives mommy crazy. It's just not developmentally appropriate for a 2-year-old to tie their shoes yet!
One of her major areas of
independence is getting dressed and selecting her clothes. She has a
dresser and a closet full of clothes, however, she has her favorites and the
majority of those clothes (which were also worn by Jocelyn) are left unworn.
I try not to fight her, but sometimes her outfits are outrageous! I can
name her favorites right now: For shirts, it's either one of two
half-zip, pull-over fleece sweatshirts, her Supergirl T-shirt, or any random
non-fitted T-shirt including her 'Future Lancer' tee and her 'I Love Paris'
tee. She usually pairs those with one of three fitted, long sleeve white
tees. Sometimes you will even catch her wearing 3-4 shirts at one
time. Her favorite pants are either the khaki ones you see above, her
"zebra" pants, which aren't really zebra print, but blue and white
pinstriped, or any pair of jeans. She tends to like any clothes she would
describe as a "boy shirt" or "for boys". A tom-boy in
the making? Maybe, but that doesn't bode well for hand-me-downs since
Jocelyn is definitely a girly-girl! Sigh...

Baking Banana Muffins
After playing in the snow, the girls just weren't ready to say goodbye to Andrea, so we continued the fun with inside! We made some yummy, warm banana muffins for an afternoon snack. All three girls are great kitchen helpers!
The Snowman of 2013
We almost ran out of time to build a snowman this winter! We hadn't had a lot of good snowman-snow this winter, and the one time we did, Jocelyn was sick with Influenza. Jocelyn was not very happy that winter was almost over and we hadn't built a snowman. Luckily (or not) we got a snow storm last night, and the snow was perfect for snowman making! The girls' bestie Andrea came over an helped build him!
Although we got about 8 inches of snow, once the snow stopped coming down, the temperature increased and the sun came out. The snow was melting fast, so we had to work fast. Then, after only about 20 minutes or so, Mr. Snowman took a tumble to the ground, and the girls smashed him!
Hopefully this is the last time we see snow this winter! ;-)

Raging Reagan
'Raging' is probably too strong of a term to use to describe Reagan, however, our little Reagan most definitely gets mad. Why? Because someone has told her "no" or someone (who won't be mentioned by name) isn't sharing, or because she can't get her clothes on completely by herself. It's so hard not to laugh at her when she gets this way, but we try pretty hard not to. She will look downward, red-faced and eyes welling up with tears, cross her arms and growl. After she calms down a bit you will most like hear her most common 'angry' phrase: "Throw you away!" I'm not sure where it came from, but when she's mad at you, Reagan will most definitely tell you that she is going to "throw you away". Then, she comes to me or her father, and depending on who she's mad at, tells them: "Throw Daddy away!" or "Throw Mommy away!" It's kind of cute, and if you could see her face while she says it...that's cute too. Maybe I shouldn't be thinking any of this is cute, but I just can't help it...it is!

The Dentist
Today the girls had their very first dentist appointments! Jocelyn has been asking when she was going to go to the dentist for 2 years, and finally she got to go! I was so worried about where to take her, and if she would have a good experience, that I just kept putting it off. I was afraid to take them to any "old" dentist because I was afraid they would have a bad or scary experience and then hate the dentist for the rest of their life. Finally, I bit the bullet and made an appointment with a pediatric dentist. It turned out to be a great experience for both of the girls.
Clean teeth!
Jocelyn did an excellent job at the dentist! When they first called her from the waiting room, they took her back by herself because she needed to have x-rays done. She was a little hesitant, but she was brave and went all by herself. I think I was more nervous than she was! They said her teeth looked wonderful. She didn't have any cavities and they told her that one of her bottom teeth was starting to get loose! That was really exciting for her! I was so proud of Jocelyn and how cooperative she was during her visit!
Reagan was ready to get her teeth cleaned too!
Reagan was in the room when Jocelyn got her teeth cleaned and was ready to climb up on the chair and get hers cleaned! The dentist office told me that they usually only start seeing children at 3-years-old unless their is a problem, however they allowed me to schedule an appointment for her as well so we could get both of the girls done at once. The tech didn't seem hopeful that she would be able to do much with Reagan's teeth, however, Reagan was an excellent patient. She followed directions perfectly, and allowed the tech and dentist do all the things they needed to do. They actually stated that she was the BEST 2-year-old they EVER had in the office! I was so proud of her!
Look how tiny she was on that dental chair. So cute!
Reagan after her cleaning was over!
I know I already said it, but I am SO proud of both of my girls. They did such a great job at the dentist office!
Preschool Homework
Jocelyn had a homework project for school that she was really excited about. She had to decorate a gingerbread person to hang in her class. She wanted to make hers into a ballerina. She was very proud of the final project!

Kid-A-Palooza
When you've got a kid you've got to Kid-A-Palooza, right? The Kid-A-Palooza is an event that is held at the Convention center every year. The girls had a lot of fun!
There was a special PrincessTent where Jocelyn got to meet Cinderella and Snow White!
Also in the Princess Tent, the girls got their make-up and hair done, and made a tiara. Just look at Princess Reagan!
The Merry Go Round
Jocelyn got to ride on her favorite animal--the Zebra! She was so happy!

Popular
Is it possible for a 5-year-old to be popular already? If so, then I think Jocelyn is. I don't want to seem braggy, but Jocelyn has a lot of friends and people seem to want to be near her and hang out with her all the time. Last week, a little girl in Jocelyn's class gave her a Best Friends Forever clutch that she had colored. Her mom told me that it came as a set and she wanted Jocelyn to have the matching one. So sweet. Then, this week, another one of the moms of Jocelyn's classmates told me that her daughter is always talking about Jocelyn and wanted to know if we could get together for a play date sometime! Earlier in the year another mom told me that her son really liked Jocelyn and that he insisted on doing everything with her while at school. He had to sit next to her at snack, sit next to her at story time, etc.
Sometimes I feel more like her manager than her mother--haha--managing her various requests for play dates and lunch meetings. She keeps me busy!
People seem drawn to Jocelyn. Even at a younger age, while she was still in PALS, the kids would line up at the snack table, standing with their snack in hand, waiting for the children sitting on either side of her to get up so that they could sit next to her. I know that Jocelyn is a sweet little girl. She is a good friend. I think she really tries to treat other children how she wants them to treat her. It comes naturally to her and I love that about her. I hope she keeps the same attitude through her school years, and especially through her teenage years. I hope she always remembers to treat everyone with respect and is nice to everyone she comes in contact with. I hope it is always easy for her She is a people-person! Our little sweetie! :)
